The Family safari will take you to witness the great wildebeest migration safari in Serengeti. Over 2 million Wildebeest, Zebra and Gazelles move through the Serengeti and Masai Mara ecosystems in search of green pastures and safe calving ground. Their pattern of movement is highly weather dependent and dynamic, yet with advance planning and a little bit of luck you can witness this natural wildlife wonder. This safari covers other National Parks too, where you can witness resident game.

The safari is available throughout the year, but opting for it in the right season will leave you awestruck. To provide you with an unforgettable experience, this safari can be done only as a private safari. The choice of accommodation available is mid range to luxury grade tented camps and lodges. For you to maximize your adventure, you will start with Tarangire national park, cross to Serengeti national park and wind up with the Ngorongoro crater all known for wildlife availability.

Upon arrival, you will be received by the company drive/ guide and then transferred to the lodge of your choice where you will take up a family suite for dinner and overnight. On the next day by 8am, you will head towards Tarangire National Park about 3hrs’ drive.

The national park is extremely famous and special for its diverse landscape and nine different vegetation zones. As you begin your game drive, you will be welcomed by the ancient and gigantic Baobab trees, which make even animals like the giraffe look tiny. The game drive goes on till about late afternoon and includes a small stop for a picnic lunch.

After lunch, head to the river which attracts a lot of diverse animals and you should be able to spot a lot of elephants, giraffe, lions, antelopes and zebra. If it’s your lucky day, you might be able to spot the tree climbing python and the long-necked Gerek. This park has the highest concentration of elephants, which offers a unique chance for you to observe interactions between elephant families.

Take up your family suite in any of your preferred lodge here. Wake up early and take breakfast then head for a game drive in Ndutu. Once you reach Ndutu you will begin your day’s game drive with a convenient stop for your picnic lunch. Sweeping grasslands of the Ndutu cover the region which gradually fade into the Ngorongoro conservation area and the Serengeti. Ndutu forms a part of the route for the annual migration of more than 2 million wildebeests and thousands of zebras, antelope and gazelle. During game drives at the right season between December and April, you will be able to see the fertile plains turn into calving grounds and nursery for the great migration.

You will be able to witness predators prying on vulnerable young wildebeest. Crested with Ndutu lake and Lake Masek, these waterholes offer plenty of wildlife game during the dry season. The Ndutu is also the home ground for 6 species of big cats – leopard, lion, cheetah, caracal, serval and wildcat.

Its in Ndutu that calving takes place, you will be able to see all the plains turn into calving grounds and nursery for the great migration. This season attracts hordes of predators prying on vulnerable young wildebeest. Watching the circle of life take its course will be an unforgettable experience etched for life. The action-packed game drive will end late in the evening by around 5PM. You will then head towards your choice of accommodation, where a freshly prepared dinner awaits you and overnight.

On a new fresh day after breakfast, you will head out towards the Serengeti National Park and go through in the midst of the never-ending plain grasslands. The Serengeti, means endless plains in the local African language and watching the grassland stretch out as far as the eye can see and eventually merging with the sky at the horizon is an absolutely breathtaking view. The Serengeti is home to the glorious “Big 5” (elephant, rhino, buffalo, lion and leopard).

The Serengeti supports the greatest remaining concentration of plains game in Africa. You must also look out for the Serengeti “Kopjes” which are massive boulders of granite standing in a sea of grass. They provide ample shelter to a large variety of flora and fauna. A picnic lunch will be done during the day long game drive itself. Dinner and overnight in your preferred accommodation.

A new fresh day marks it a Serengeti day for a full day game drive as a family immediately after breakfast. Being the most renowned safari destination for its incredible population of lions and leopards. The central portion of the Serengeti – known as Seronera area is one of the richest wildlife habitats in the park. It features the Seronera River, which provides a valuable water source to this area and therefore attracts wildlife well representative of most of the Serengeti’s species.

Once a day’s activities are done, then transfer to Ngorongoro conservation area and head direct to you preferred accommodation for dinner and overnight. When the sun rises, take breakfast and head to the Ngorongoro crater for another show. The crater is one of Africa’s impressive geological attraction and supreme mecca of wilderness.

You will be at full disposal of the African elephant, buffalo, Black rhino, Hippos, Hyenas, Cheetahs and Lions in the area. Your camera must be ready to take photos of your choice. Enjoy the picnic lunch at the beautiful Hippo pool, you will begin a steep ascend to the top exit of the crater. This is the last leg of your safari, with a 4hr drive left to Arusha and take your flight back home.
