This trip will require driving from one county to another involving boarder crossing as you enjoy the surroundings of the countries. You have the choice to make this safari either a rooftop camping safari or choose to stay in a lodge. It can either be self drive or with driver depending on your choice.
It is a traveller’s choice to where you want to start and end the safari. When you choose to start in Uganda and end in Tanzania with a driver and stay in lodges then this itinerary will best work for you.
You will be welcomed at Entebbe international airport on arrival by the driver/ guide then be transferred to the lodge for dinner and overnight. The driver/ guide will take you through the entire safari. You will wake up early for breakfast and start your safari.
You will have a stop over at the equator on Masaka road as you head to Bwindi and have lunch in Mbarara. Continue and go direct to the lodge of your choice in Bwindi for dinner and overnight.
Early morning after breakfast, go for gorilla trekking which will start with the briefing at the headquarters before heading to the jungle. After the briefing, you will head to the starting point where the trek will start from. This will take between 30min to 6hours depending on the previous day’s location. Once the you get in contact with the great apes, take one hour with them enjoying every bit of their company then descend back to the headquarter to pick your trekking certificate then back to lodge for lunch. Relax, dinner and overnight.
Wake up early for break fast then transfer to the Ishasha sector in Queen Elizabeth for the tree climbing lions and other wildlife encounters. Take a game drive searching for the rest of the game as well as the tree climbing lions which will give you an everlasting memory. Go for a lunch break and cross to kibale national park lodge for dinner and overnight.
Early morning breakfast, go for briefing to kibale headquarters for tracking the chimpanzees. It will take between 30minutes to a few hours while in search for the chimpanzees. Once in contact with them, you will take one hour to enjoy while taking photos but no flashing is required. As you track the chimps, you will discover more primates as well as birds. Head back to lodge for lunch, relax, dinner and overnight.
After early breakfast, head to Murchison national park for another everlasting memory. Start with a visit to the top of Murchison fall and head to lodge for dinner and overnight. The next day, take a game drive to see the wildlife encounter then take a boat cruise in the afternoon and enjoy as the sun sets. Back to lodge for dinner and overnight.
Transfer to Kidepo national park for a game drive which will give you that opportunity to see different animals in the park. Apoka game drives are the best way to explore the far reaches of the park within a short space of time. Coming face to face with large mammals and predators from the safety of your vehicle is an unforgettable experience.
Transfer to the sipi falls comprising of 3 waterfalls each flowing from a different altitude. The highest fall drops from an altitude of 100m referred to as the main fall since it is the last fall in the series, this fall is a little bigger than the other two falls, but all give Uganda a beautiful scenery. In fact, most people say that sipi falls are the ‘most romantic falls’ in Uganda which is evidenced by the wonderful falls. This area is majorly where most hikes to Mt. Elgon are started from. Hiking up to these falls gives a beautiful scenic view, like Lake Kyoga, the Karamoja low lands, coffee plantations and other surrounding areas.
Go for the cross-boarder clearance and then enter Kenya. You will have breakfast and set off to Maasai Mara Game Reserve in Kenya. The Tanzanian guide will drop you at the border crossing point where you will meet the Kenyan guide who will take over the Kenyan safari. The guide will receive and transfer you to Maasai Mara with an en-route lunch break. You will check-in at the lodge, have dinner, and overnight.
Begin your day with an early breakfast then head out for a game drive. Before leaving the lodge, you will carry packed lunch because you will spend the entire day in the game reserve. You will see a lot of animals like lions, cheetahs, ostriches, elephants, wildebeests, zebras and wild cats. After the game drive, you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Cross to Tanzania. Begin your day with breakfast before you depart to Lake Manyara National Park. You will carry packed lunch due to the long distance between the two parks. On arrival in Lake Manyara National Park, you will check-in at the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Wake up in the morning and have breakfast. Have your packed lunch and drinking water ready. You will then head out for the game drive with an armed game ranger where you will be able to spot different wildlife species. Visit Lake Manyara for bird watching as well and later return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
After breakfast, you will check out of the lodge with packed lunch and depart for Serengeti National Park. Serengeti is the oldest and most famous national park in Tanzania. You will reach Serengeti National Park late in the evening. Check-in at the lodge for evening relaxation, dinner and overnight.
After early breakfast, you will leave the lodge for a game drive in the plains of Serengeti National Park. You will carry packed lunch because you will spend the entire day viewing millions of wildebeests as they fulfill their instinctive role in the inescapable cycle of life. The zebras and Thomson’s gazelles always join the wildebeest migration in search of fresh lush vegetation. They cross the Mara River to Maasai Mara Game Reserve in the season of June and September. You will also spot cheetahs, wild cats, leopards, lions, spotted hyenas and other animals. Your lunch will be a game viewing point. After spending the entire day in the game drive, you will return to the lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight. Transfer back to Arusha for your flight back home.
