No list of great white-water rivers could ever possibly be complete without at least mentioning the River Nile in Uganda. This surely is one of the ultimate expeditions in the world. The White Nile River is a total of 2,299 miles in length and flows through six different countries, namely including Sudan, South Sudan, Uganda, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Rwanda, and Tanzania. From Lake Victoria the White Nile continues in Uganda as the Victorian Nile and goes north through the country, briefly going into the DR Congo at Lake Albert.
It then goes north from there through the rest of Uganda, South Sudan and Sudan before it merges with the Blue Nile at the city of Khartoum. For Uganda the Victorian Nile section of the White Nile located at the mouth of Lake Victoria provides power for the country from the Nalubale Power Station and the Kira Power Station.

After breakfast and preparations to 8:30am, we arrived at the offices just in time for a hefty breakfast which was so delicious. The drive through the villages to the river shores was even more beautiful as we bathed in the morning sun and had beautiful views of African homesteads.
Everyone gets rafting gear, wet suit, boots, life jacket, helmet, paddle, rafting follows along most exciting part of the River Nile. Rafting lasts around 3 – 7 hours an all-day activity with the breaks for photo safari. Rafting itself, never runs the same time and depends largely on the raft stage for which you choose, and of course the time period and the month, and the water level and speed of the river.

The lunch was simple and fresh especially the fresh mouth-watering pineapples. At the end of it all, we had some beers as we drive back to the offices where we had delicious dinner and a beautiful camp fire where the guides kept us company all through the night. We had an unforgettable experience. From the meals to the water activities, everything was perfect and handled with a high degree of professionalism. The guiding crew was perfect and made every moment in the water memorable

What to bring on your rafting trip, and what to wear on the river, is as varied as the itineraries themselves. Your gear will depend on the time of year, water temperature and the weather for your trip. For packing, bring moisture wicking, quick-dry fabrics and lots of them, as you’ll likely want to change into dry clothes each day once you finish rafting. Additionally, pack river shoes which protect your feet but give you good stabilization while climbing in and out of the raft.
